We query the data sources
For the free check, we query the DVLA and DVSA directly for the vehicle's history timeline, full MOT record, road tax status, and emissions-zone charges. The paid Basic check adds identity and history sources — previous keepers, VIN and engine verification, and scrapped, imported and plate-change markers. The Comprehensive check goes further, querying the Police National Computer and Experian for outstanding finance, stolen and write-off markers, plus a valuation.

Your report — and how it's kept
A Carcheck123 report is a record of what those sources showed at the moment you ran the check: it doesn't change after you run it, so it stays exactly as it was on the day you checked. If you need current information later — for example, right before you complete a purchase — run a new check. Vehicle records can change: finance can be added or cleared, an MOT can expire, a keeper can change.
